Any coach or parent who has prepared results for Athletic.net knows how tedious and error-prone it can be. This was the inspiration for RaceApp. A process that used to take us hours of manually transposing handwritten names and times into a spreadsheet now takes only a few minutes when we get home from a meet.

Once a meet has been recorded and scored, it’s a single click to generate the CSV already formatted to Athletic.net’s specifications.

Before You Export

For best results, make sure your meet data is clean:

  1. Review all event results in RaceApp and make corrections as needed

  2. Organize your results properly:
    • Move athletes around to ensure each race contains only one division
    • Combine all heats of the same event into a single race
    • Split any combined events by division (e.g., if a distance race ran all divisions at once, or if you recorded a field event as an open pit)
  3. Score the meet:
    • Use the auto-scoring feature (recommended) or manually set a place for each finisher
    • The place column is required for Athletic.net to fully accept the uploaded result

Before exporting, use our AI Meet Review feature to automatically check your data for common errors. This can catch mistakes that are easy to miss when reviewing manually. Take the answers with a grain of salt - it can be very helpful, but it can also be wrong.

To use AI Meet Review:

  1. Navigate to your meet’s main page
  2. Click the “AI Meet Review” button
  3. Wait a few moments while the AI analyzes your results
  4. Review the feedback - it will flag potential issues like:
    • Typos: Same athlete listed under slightly different names (e.g., “John Smith” vs “Jon Smith”)
    • Anomalies: Times that seem too fast or too slow for the event type
    • Missing data: Athletes with no time or place recorded
    • Duplicates: Same athlete appearing multiple times in the same event
    • Format issues: Times in incorrect format
  5. Fix any issues the AI identifies, then proceed to export

Note: AI Meet Review requires a Starter plan or higher.

Exporting Your Results

When you’re ready to export:

  1. Navigate to the meet’s top page
  2. Scroll to the bottom and click “Export to Athletic.net”
  3. The system generates a CSV file formatted to Athletic.net’s specifications
  4. Follow Athletic.net’s instructions to upload your file

Important Notes

  • Don’t edit the CSV in a spreadsheet app. Excel and Numbers can inadvertently change the formatting of times and names. If you must make manual edits, use a plain text editor instead.

  • The AI review is optional but recommended. It only takes a few seconds and can catch errors that would be rejected by Athletic.net or cause confusion later. Take the answers with a grain of salt - it can be very helpful, but it can also be wrong.

  • You can re-export anytime. If you find errors after uploading to Athletic.net, fix them in RaceApp and generate a new export file.

That’s it!
